On May 8, 2024, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) orchestrated a dynamic media tour titled "Real Estate and Housing Market Trends for the Summer and Beyond." This event aimed to emphasize the invaluable role of REALTORS® in navigating the current real estate landscape. Thirty-one NAR leaders, including members of the NAR Leadership Team, regional vice presidents, and state and local presidents, virtually connected with television and radio reporters across the country, offering localized insights and market trends.

Bringing Market Insights to the Forefront

NAR's media tour was a comprehensive effort, executed from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Utilizing advanced virtual connections, satellite links, and professional on-location production, the tour generated 332 airings, reaching an audience of nearly 11 million. This initiative allowed NAR leaders to discuss the latest Metro Home Price Report, which monitors median prices across 221 metro areas, and to reiterate the advantages of working with a REALTOR®.

Local Market Snapshots Memphis Market Insights

Regina Hubbard, President of Tennessee REALTORS®, highlighted the positive trends in Memphis during an interview with WMC-TV’s Action News 5. She noted a 1.4% year-over-year increase in the median sales price, now at $272,400. Hubbard emphasized the complexities of real estate transactions and the critical role REALTORS® play in ensuring smooth and cost-effective processes for buyers.

New York Metro Area Trends

In a conversation with’s Kibin Alleyne, NAR Regional Vice President Jennifer Stevenson addressed concerns of younger buyers in the New York metro area, where the median price has surged to $663,000—an 18% increase from the previous year. Stevenson reassured viewers that buying a home remains a sound investment, with younger buyers often opting to share homes to manage costs and build equity.

Austin Market Developments

Jef Conn, chairman of the board for Texas REALTORS®, discussed the Austin market with Trevor Scott from KEYE-TV. Conn observed an increase in available inventory, a significant change from the tight market of previous years, with a median price holding steady at $467,000. He advised viewers to seek guidance from REALTORS® to navigate the market effectively.
